Schlepp and I have been sending e-mails like mad to the support page. Neither of us has received a single response. Automatic notifications are not set by default. You have to go to your user control panel and click that option for yourself if you want it.
The two weather forums I frequent have thread-by-thread email notification of new posts. One forum automatically turns on the email notifications once you have posted to a thread, and the other one is totally manual. You have to click a 'Notify' button in order to get notified about replies. It is handy if you are giving advice and the recipient is kind enough to respond 'yea' or 'nay'.
