Give me advice on how to make things better

Hall of Fame?

Postby lost » Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:31 pm

I just read an idea for a Hall of Fame tubenet section by another member that I'd like to formally propose. Other forums do it to recognize threads that are truly worthy of memorial, so it might be a nice touch.

It would be stickied and locked in the announcement forum and only updated with forum links to the truly "special" discussions that sit on the site. What "special" means would be determined of course.

Thoughts?

Number of posts. Number of views. Number of quotes or links to a thread, if possible. (I know that may not be something you can look up.) That could give you a set of threads for nomination so you can get this started. You need to make some standards so a thread that is momentarily hot is not added and then later it becomes a dud. Look first for ones that have been around for several years.

After that you can take nominations for particularly helpful threads.

Particularly unhelpful threads might be as informative...

There is still hope.

Formerly "irrecoverable" topics may still be restored!!

I like this one, from the era when Joe first coined the Freak Jury name, I think...

The notorious spanking that Doug Yeo gave the board years ago. Certainly an important thread...

No threads by steroid users or abusers of performance-enhancing tubas.
Any topic including Pete Petunia, the tubist who bet against himself at the Punksburg Phil audition, is also barred.

There are occasional posts within threads that I have found valuable enough to save copies. A few from Roger Lewis and Lee Stofer come to mind. However, there is no complete thread that deserves special recognition because somewhere in that thread someone activates the TubaGod, or some declares that they have a world class tone, or some one proves that even an idiot can make fart noises on a tuba. Yes, this even includes the threads with beer maidens.
