Lee Stofer Music Exhibit at ITEC

Post by Lee Stofer »

I am looking forward to visiting with a number of friends and making new ones this year in Bloomington. Thank-you to all of you who have helped make this business what it is today - you are greatly appreciated.

In Bloomington, our exhibit will be in a separate room, which may have it's drawbacks, but will also probably offer a place where you can play-test, listen and evaluate with less distraction.

This year, I plan to show a variety of fine pre-owned instruments, new and old, some more expensive and some less-so, as well as a variety of mouthpieces and other accessories. The Warburtons contacted me, saying that the ITG Conference is at the same time as ITEC, and asked me to represent Warburton mouthpieces at ITEC, which I intend to do. So, our room will feature the Stofer-Geib mouthpieces, Warburton tuba and euphonium mouthpieces, and various Rudolf Meinl, Bruno Tilz, Bach and Schilke mouthpieces. I will be offering special ITEC pricing, so you'll want to check out what's available. I'm waiting on yet another shipment of Schlipf practice mutes, to complete the line of 17 different sizes to fit virtually any tuba, and hopefully I'll have them all in time for ITEC.

I hesitate to list what instruments I'll bring, because the inventory changes daily. Three excellent instruments that I planned to bring to the show sold and were shipped last Friday, one of them to Africa, a first for Lee Stofer Music. Another tuba should be making it's way to Germany this week. So, instruments are being repaired, cleaned and made-ready each day, as others sell each day. Whatever the final line-up is, I welcome you to play-test them and give me your feedback.

As always, I plan to have an abbreviated shop set-up where I can do some small repairs on-site. If you arrive in Bloomington and find that you have an instrument problem, don't hesitate to come by and let us be of service. I plan to have assistant Eric Murphy helping me at the booth. He is a real player, and has learned quite a lot about instrument repair and construction as well. Stop by and see us!
