The first recording session for Ian Foster's new CD entirely using Wessex Tubas instruments was yesterday. I attended helping page turn for the pianist and Ian's virtuoso playing and beautiful tone was quite inspiring! Also made me re-appreciate the compensated EEb - what a great playing and sounding tuba it is.

The finished CD will be for sale through Wessex Tubas later this year.

The proposed programme on CD is;

Strauss Horn Concerto No.1
Morricone Gabriel's Oboe (on Bubbie tuba)
Handel Sonata in C Minor
Bach Badinerie from Suite No.2
Ted Watson Sonatina for Tuba and Piano
Capuzzi Andante and Rondo
Hartley Suite for Unaccompanied tuba
Wagner Excerpts from The Ring (using CC tuba and including Wessex Trombones)

As a taster, some excerpts from recording session can be heard on YouTube although taken using my iPhone they hardly do Ian's full tone complete justice!
