New F tuba 'Brahms'

Post by Wyvern »

We are delighted to release the new Wessex F tuba 'Brahms' which plays superb with gorgeous tone, exceptional intonation and unlike most F tubas, easy and clear low C.

This may look rather like a previous F tuba made by JinBao for which the poor tuning was its downfall - but this is not the same tuba. It has been completely redesigned with new taper throughout the valves and horn to produce a fine new F tuba.

When I tried prototype at the factory I could hardly believe how good is its tuning. The needle was dead center all the way up and down. It now plays as well in tune as the very successful CC tuba.

This improvement has been produced by grading the taper throughout - most noticeable visually from the main tuning slide where expansion is no-where near so great as before. Also note the tapered expansion through the valves (19-21.4mm) and slightly larger 16" bell.

To finish off this fine F tuba, we are having fitted as standard with gold brass bell and leadpipe. We have named it the 'Brahms', as for something like the German Requiem, this tuba would be very appropriate.

Now in stock in both USA and UK

Recording of the Wessex Brahms F tuba

Post by Wyvern »

You can now hear recording of the Wessex Brahms F tuba on our website at

http://www.wessex-tubas.com/f-tuba-brahms/

This was recording by a leading American professional tuba player who must remain anonomous for contractual reasons

The recording well shows the clear mellow tone of the tuba and amazing good low register for an F tuba.
