Andy Loree (Wessex US agent) and myself are just on our way back after exhibiting at Frankfurt Musikmesse this last week.
It was great to have so many great players visit our booth from Germany, Austria and around the world from as far away as Japan, Australia and Hong Kong. Not surprising the prototype of the new Wessex ophicleide was a big attraction. Andy learned to play a rendition of Amazing Grace on it and that drew a crowd very quickly every time. A couple of professional ophicleide players also tried with positive feedback and a great sound. The BBb Mighty Midget was of enormous interest to the numerous tuba players that visited, even more so than the prototype of the new CC Mighty Gnome, not surprising in the land of F and BBb tubas. The new Eb cimbasso and F cimbasso proved very popular - while most surprising was the huge interest and great feedback on the Wessex Brahms F tuba. Although feedback has been mixed in US, it seemed everyone in Germany that tried universally loved including such notable players as Thomas Brunmayr (Tubist, Stuttgart Opera) and Daniel Ridder (Solo-Tubist in Musikkorps der Bundeswehr, Siegburg).
We expect to soon have music shops in Germany stocking the Wessex 'Mighty Midget' BBb tornister tuba
