I have Igor Martinez of the Simon Bolivar Orchestra (Venezuela) visiting Wessex in Andover the weekend September 3rd and 4th to collect his new Wyvern CC tuba, Solo Eb and Dolce euphonium - have test played them when visiting the UK earlier in the year.

Igor has kindly offered while visiting to record demonstration videos of any of the tubas in the Wessex range people want to hear. So please put in your requests here. If we have in stock, and time permitting a video will then be posted on YouTube and on the Wessex website.

Igor has already posted videos playing the Wessex Bb ophicleide on Facebook (the Simon Bolivar Orchestra bought two when they were in the UK earlier in the year). If you friend him on Facebook you will be able to view. The first video was only after one month of ownership. I was amazed how quickly he learned to play at high standard. A very talented young man!

No Ride and no Fountains. No farting down low or squealing up high. Play real, and representative stuff.

I'd like to hear him play that Helicon once you have made a shitload of them in BBb!!

It would be good to hear him play the three instruments he is picking up.

Also the bass trombone and maybe even the prototype two-valve tenor if you have one around would be awesome!

Get him to play test everything you have for as long as he possibly can. I should think he would enjoy extending his stay in England for as long as possible, and not returning to Venezuela! :shock:

The economy of the country of Venezuela is in freefall. People are struggling just to get by... $200 loaves of bread etc. I think that's the point being made.

Correct. Venezuela is not the best place in the world to be right now, and England is exponentially better. The joke is, forcing him to stay in England would be doing him a favor.

I think wherever you might live in the world, it is what you make of your life that really matters and creates satisfaction. The country may be in a bad way, but if he has a position he enjoys playing in an orchestra, then that is far more important than doing a less rewarding job in a more prosperous country.

'Achievement is far more important than possessions' is a lesson I have learned going through life.
