New Smaller Bell Wessex Mahler CC

Post by Wyvern »

It is often reported that the older Miraphone 186 with smaller bell play better, and of course the Wessex Mahler is based on the 186.

I therefore tried out fitting the TC470 Wessex Mahler with 16.75" (425mm) bell and was amazed at how great it sounds. To my ears it sounds like a mini MW 'Hilgers' which is one of my favourite sounding tubas.

So the smaller bell Mahler has gone into production with the first expected late February. At the same time we have implemented new stronger linkage with solid nickel paddles and stainless steel linkage, new improve 5th valve leverage (like on our Danube), Wyvern engraved heavy valve caps and new multi-adjustable thumb ring. Not only with the ring turning, but it allows for some adjustment up-down bell to suit position preferred by player.
