Chuck Nickles says about the stand;

This uses a number of different concepts. First the middle is threaded. This means that you can easily adjust it to any height. Plus it is impossible for it to slide down lower while you are playing, a normal problem on other stands.

Second the top has a recess on the top to allow the bottom bow to sit into it. The round design means there is no saddle that you must put the tuba in.

Third is the flat bottom. No more legs to get loose or trip on.

This stand is so strong you can sit on it with your tuba. Try that with any other tuba stand and see what happens!

Will be interested to hear unbiased reviews about it, especially how stable it is. A base of 9" doesn't sound huge, so I'm curious how much wobble there might be. I forget what the footprint is of the BBC stand, but it's certainly larger. Probably not a big deal on flat, hard surfaces, but could be interesting on carpeted surfaces (an awful lot of us practice at our homes...).

It was being used on carpet at NAMM. There was slight leaning on spongy carpet, but not sufficient to worry about tuba falling.

Here is a feature I would like to see on a tuba playing stand:

Two preset heights: one for CC or BBb tuba and another for F or Eb tuba. When playing a concert that requires both a contrabass and a bass tuba, it really doen't make sense to have two playing stands. However, the switch between the two tubas, sometimes, needs to occur quickly. It would be nice if the stand could quickly switch between two preset heights with a button push or ...

A few pre-drilled holes would make that work!!

I tried it out at NAMM when I gave the 6/4 BBb horn a go.
I'm not used to using playing stands, though. So, not a lot of reference.

I thought it was a bit wobbly. But I can see getting used to it.

The small footprint would come in handy on crowded stages with chair legs and music stands all competing for space. And for folks with big feet, like me. Tripod stands always seem to get in my way.

It's a very solid build. Similar to the nicer drum thrones out there.

I think that if you're used to balancing your horn on a stand when playing, you won't have any problems with this stand. If you're like me and always hold it on your lap, then the use of this stand is a bit unsettling. As there was definitely a little wobble (on carpet, as mentioned above). And that 6/4 horn was huge!

The surface in contact with the floor not shown in this post. Does it recess a little towards the Center ?
This would provide a circular, narrow "contact line" rather than a contact surface.
That makes it easier to stand on carpets or non-perfect surfaces.
