Tuba Demo Video of the new 3/4 CC

Post by MackBrass »

This will be added to the mack brass site shortly. This is the new 3/4 5 valve CC tuba and with the addition of the 5th valve I have to say its probably the most fun tubas i have ever played. We have more on order and can expect them late Feb to early March. As to the video quality or i shall say, my playing, these will be some of the last videos i will be doing as i will be retiring from playing tuba sometime after i make the videos of the new 6/4 ZO. The video was recorded in an empty room so the acoustics are not the greatest.

Comments and feedback are always welcome.

Agreed. Many of my recent practice sessions have been me sitting in front of your videos with a notepad, copy of the excerpt being played, and a pencil.

Tom
You're an inspiration to so many of us fellow musicians. Whatever the reason for your decision, crazy as it seems to anyone here, I hope you're at peace with it. Thanks for the sincere encouragement you freely offered at the start of my journey down from euphonium, and the welcome lack of pretense. Much respect for keeping it real and never condescending. With the business, I'm sure there will always be tuba in your life somewhere. There's a bit of you in my W900 so I'll always try my best to do this great horn justice. Best regards! Bob

Solo demo videos are great, but I think the best way to appreciate this tuba would be to hear it in a quintet setting. That's where it really would shine

I may try to get there for a day. We will have some more arriving in about a week but i am not sure if they will last.

Thanks Marty, its just too hard to find the energy and motivation to keep it going. Not being able to play at nearly at the level i once did makes it difficult these days to pick up the horn. For the past year i probably have only played a few times a month on average and when i do pick it up its like starting all over. I wont be selling my personal horns as it took me 30 years to find what works for me, too bad its about 10 years too late.

I have one of these horns and absolutely love it. The tone is beautiful, it is the perfect size for what I do, and my colleagues enjoy it too.

The threading on the valve caps, in my opinion, is not the best. But at this price and with everything else the way it is, it doesn’t bother me. I might do a Bloke-mod down the road and put some holes in the thread caps so I wouldn’t need to unthread anymore though.
