Update: 6/4 Thunderbird/York at the Army Conference

Post by MackBrass »

Hi All,

Please see my last post for details.

If all the stars line up perfectly we will have the new ZO 6/4 York copy at the Army Conference next week.

We just received our arrival notice for our next shipment of ZO 6/4 thunderbird tubas and the shipment is scheduled to arrive on Thursday Jan 31st. If all works out and we have no delays with customs, the ZO 6/4 can be seen and played at the Baltimore Brass booth.

This tuba is a game changer and anyone thinking of a 6/4 should definitely consider one of these. ZO's quality, fit, and finish is absolutely at the very top of anything coming out of China and is on par with anything coming out of Europe and a Japan.

In my opinion, this is the best 6/4 on the market today.

That's a pretty lofty endorsement! I hope that it is the best, that would be amazing.

Yes it is lofty but i guess it really comes down to personal preference with these. Over the years I have owned and played most of the 6/4 tubas available and to me this brings the best qualities of them all into one, great sound, response, intonation and for me a great low register.

Well the shipment will not make it in time for the conference. Today i received notice that it will be here on Tuesday. Once i have had a chance to go through them i will make a trip up to Baltimore Brass to drop a couple off at their shop. I encourage anyone that is in the area to stop by Dave's shop and try them out.

I also have a very nice 4/4 piston that is based heavily on the Nirschl design arriving. Anyone thats in the south is more than welcome to check these out as well as any other instruments we carry.

In intriqued to hear more about the 4/4 one, as well as the 6/4. If these ever make their way to Middle TN, I would really like to give them a try

Several instruments DID NOT make it to the conference.

(Seems several venders including yourself encountered shipping issues)

Are you speaking about ZO instrument's making to the conference? If so, which models and who had them?

Ooops!!

Went back, re-read and fixed it.

I meant to remark upon how several instruments that had been expected to be there WERE NOT due to shipping snafus.
