Here is a sneak preview of Wessex new 6/4 York style Monster Eb tuba, the TE668HP. This is the first prototype, so it may yet change in some details once we have evaluated.
Bore is 0.75 to 0.79 inches and bell is 19 inches. This is a professional hand hammered tuba made from sheet brass.
All being well, I hope to have out in time for ITEC 2021.

I can’t give you a precise price at present, as we are still working out production costs - but I hope the price will be less than $6,000 lacquered, or $7,000 silver-plated

That's a really wide and short bell. Is it comfortable for the player? Enough room for your head to be on the mouthpiece and I set the bell?
Perhaps it's just a funny camera angle! But I do remember playing a Cerveny Piggy once, where I questioned how anyone could reasonable fit their head under the bell and reach the mouthpiece.

@bort, presumably that's based on this tuba which UncleBeer built. His head seems to fit.

No problem - very comfortable. We are all tuba players, so Wessex would not release anything which did not work

Very similar, but this is design by Chuck Nickles

I am hoping to add a 3+1 compensated version, but no plans for rotary valve version

I'm curious why the need for Chuck to build one when UncleBeer already did?

Is that bell a new shape? It looks remarkably similar from the angles posted to the Viverna BBb bell, not the Champion Eb bell (intentional, I presume?). Then again, the images could be playing tricks.
This should just be called "Monster" as a nod to the past.

It is completely new bell mandrel, with profile of Grand Rapids York tuba bell. As with all Wessex hand-hammered horns, the tuba will be made using German brass (which is a bit harder than Chinese brass).

This has a look similar to the York / Getzen / Kanstul horns, although the Getzen was in CC only. I'm very curious about this creature...

Hi Jonathan, any news about the progress on the TE668HP?
Haven't heard or read about it for a while now, but still very curious.

I doubt if there will be anything now until I can get to the factory - which I expect to be January

Nice to see it on the site now, can't wait for the reviews. It ticks just about all my boxes for a new horn.
Just out of curiosity, how come it lost three places in the naming scheme?
