It's true. And whole notes aren't always easy. You have to play with expression, support the ensemble, and not poop out. If you think the parts are boring, your attitude will be reflected by your poor playing. Never take whole notes lightly. That's something an immature player would do.

I think he is looking for the paritcular article in which Baer said this, not reaffirmation of it. (Possibly to show to students for someone else?)

BTW, I do not know where to find it, but I am interested in it as well.
