6/4 Holton tuba in relation to PT-6
Quick question guys/gals. How would a 6/4 Holton Rusk cut compare in size to a PT-6. I'm mainly looking for dimensions of both tubas.

Holton vs. PT-6 ?
I don't have a Holton 6/4 in front of me to measure (did at one time), but the circumference of its bottom bow, which gets a lot of credit for "6/4 sound", is significantly larger at both ends than a PT-6's.
An archived post indicates the PT-6 has bottom bow circumferences of 17 (bell end) and 10-inches (branch end). Just by way of (other) comparison(s) my Martin BBb bottom bow measures 19.75 and 13.25 inches. A Conn 2xJ also has a larger bottom bow than a PT-6.
At the price point of the instruments you're considering, you really ought to play both before making any purchase decision (really true at any price point).
