Wilder Sonata

Post by tubagirl5 »

Hi! I have been looking to purchase a copy of the Wilder Sonata No. 1 for tuba and piano and have been unable to locate it. I have tried all the normal places, have googled it, and have looked up the past publisher (Margun Music). I purchased this piece a few years ago with no problem (a friend of mine then purchased it from me). Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!!

I just spoke with Shawnee Press who currently own Margun Music. No. 1 is permanently out of print. No. 2 is a print on demand item and takes 6 or more weeks for them to print and get to a dealer.

Since I think it is a somewhat ridiculous that any of the Margun pieces are permanently out of print, I have written to the CEO of Shawne Press about the possibility of purchasing the copyright to Sonata No. 1 and No. 2 (maybe others)and getting them back in print.

I cannot imagine someone not being able to geta copy of the Effie Suite?

Suite No. 1 for Horn, Tuba, and Piano

Post by Uncle Buck »

Anyone know if the Suite No. 1 for Horn, Tuba, and Piano is also out of print? It isn't listed on the Robert King website.

After a little work, the Wilder Sonata No. 1 is available once again!

It can be found on the bottom of my homepage:

http://www.bvdpress.com/

or searching "Wilder", "Sonata", etc. on the site.

It sells for $10.00

Wishing all well,

Effie is still in print (Suite No. 1 for Tuba and Piano.)

Sonata No. 1 for Tuba and piano is a different piece.

You are correct in all you say above. The Sonata No. 1 was the piece that was out of print and is now back in print.

My point in mentioning Effie was that it is possible it may go out of print becasue of how Shawnee Press, Music Sales and Margun are NOT working together to keep them in print or available on a regular basis.
