Mouthpieces

Hello again. Tomorrow i am heading into the city to try some euphs saturday as a lot of you already know. I know its mostly trial and error for mpcs too but what are some good models i should look at. (price isnt a huge issue seeing they dont cost too much compared to the euphonium, could even get them to give a free mpc).......... and is there a place that shows the different qualities in sound by its finish, cup size etc?

look at the SM series by steven mead....there a tad pricey, but the SM-3 is perty awesome.

not compared to the Brian Bowman series.
They're a little more expensive than a standard Wick but when people can pay $500 USD for a mouthpiece, 74 isn't bad.

Quest should have some SM mouthpieces (SM4 and SM2)... the Canadian Music Group rep sent me the wrong size shank.

Kelly's are also good but nobody carries actual Kelly mouthpieces in WPG for a good price.

I would suggest when trying new euphs, use your standard old mouthpiece. Changing mouthpieces while trying new horns can complicate things.

If they will toss in a new mouthpiece with the horn, just decide what you want to try (after the horn is home), bigger, smaller, deeper, ... in comparison to your old mouthpiece. Every euph player should try 51D, SM4, SM3, SM3.5, plain old 51, ... the list could go on and on...
