No. "Liederhosen" are song pants. Your original post mentioned liederhousen. I have no idea what those are. Now I own, and often wear, lederhosen. Leder is leather and hosen are pants. Thus, lederhosen are leather pants. I have spent hundreds of hours wearing them. They are surprisingly comfortable. I still wonder what any of this has to do with St. Patrick's Day.

At some point of time I wanted a pair of knee-long Lederhosen in a good quality. Not the ones with nylon zippers.

But they are expensive beyond belief, if you want the real thing with antler buttons and the right suspenders. Some of my best brasses have cost less (it is just a matter of doing the optimal second hand deals).

But then I wouldnâ€™t want to buy a pair of second hand Lederhosen in dark brown.

How do tuba conventions work?

As I see it most tubists are far too conventional. And then there is the minority, which isnâ€™t conventional at all.

Tuba players get together, eat bad food together, and drink cheap beer together. Then they listen to better players and philosophize as to why they are better. Then they play instruments that are either crap or fantastic depending on whether thay are more expensive than the one owned by the tuba player in question. They may even listen to someone talk about playing the tuba, in addition to actually playing the tuba. Spouses rarely come, and those who do are real troopers.

Guess you are true, Rick!

The sad thing is, that I have heard about child abuse in connection with such an event!

Sampson was taken there before he was even one year old.

I am not really serious about the abuse aspect. My older daughter would strum a pre-tuned guitar chord with her right hand while buzzing my Bach #3 trombone mouthpiece holding it in her left hand. She would make a few breaks crying out: "Rock! Rock! Rock!" (not in Danish)

But then she was an autodidact (aside from the guitar tuning and listening to her parents practicing plus following up on anything happening on TV and radio) elderly lady of 22 months. Quite a sight and hearing!
