If you are willing to drive, you could take a lesson with one of the tuba students at the University of North Texas. PM me if you're interested in names or phone numbers.

Ed Jones? Matt Good? For the sorts of questions you are asking, whatever these guys charge for a couple of lessons would be worth both the drive and the dollars. You don't have to take lessons from them every week to get pointed in the right direction on your issues, by the way.

I got a free lesson with Mark Finley when I sold him an Eb Sousaphone a few years ago, and thought he was a good teacher. If you are interested in calling him, PM me and I'll send the contact info I have (which may or may not be up-to-date).

I know Mark has taught in Richardson and Mesquite schools, and I THINK he's taught in Garland. Be prepared when you meet him, though; he is a BIG guy!
