Amen. It's a sad fact that most younger musicians will NEVER play even one of the transcriptions that are listed. I find that university/college tubists have to find a community band with an old-school director to have the pleasure of playing these pieces.Over the past 35 or so years (actually - THOUGH I DO NOT BLAME HIM, AND HE IS THE VERY LEAST OF THE GUILTY! - beginning, perhaps with Francis McBeth) it has been very sad to see the evaporation of band transcriptions of art music in favor of manufactured/nearly unlistenable/completely predictable "band pieces".
