Tanglewood Institute Two Week Workshop

Post by datubaguy »

I just want to get the word out about a two week workshop that I am hosting along with Boston University at their Tanglewood Institute. There is still room for more players. Here is the official blurb and a link to the B.U.T.I. site, which has more info, and contact information.
Hope to see you there!

Mike Roylance

Tuba & Euphonium Workshop

Ages 15 or older

Offered for the first time in the 2006 BUTI season, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Tuba & Euphonium Workshop will be held under the direction of Boston Symphony Orchestra tubist Mike Roylance.

Through individualized attention in daily class settings, the workshop will address the technical and musical aspects of playing the tuba and euphonium. Master classes offered by the director will focus on technique, solo repertoire, orchestral excerpts, and audition preparation.

As an integral component of the workshop, students will also be organized into and coached in quartets and a tuba-euphonium choir. Weekly performance classes will provide additional opportunities for students to develop and refine their stage presence, audition, and recital skills.

I go to BU and spoke with Mike Roylance today...there are definitely spots left for both Tuba and Euphonium. Speaking from personal experience working with Mike for the past two years, anyone who has the time to go to this workshop should go without hesitation. Mike is an amazing teacher and a monster player. Everyone will benefit greatly even from just two weeks with Mike!

Feel free to contact me if you questions

I highly recommend anyone even considering this to not hesitate and go. Mike is a first class musician, player and person. You will not be sorry you went and will learn alot from him, I know I did in the time we spent together. He has one of the best stylistic approaches to our instrument that I've heard and is very motivating.

How was it?

Post by MomX4 »

To those who attended The Boston University Tanglewood Institute Tuba Workshop - BUTI - (June 18-July1), How was it?

How does the BUTI Young Artists Orchestra (6 weeks) and the Young Artists Wind Ensemble (4 weeks) compare to Interlochen’s 6 week program?
