EBay feedback is mostly meaningless for the larger sellers. eBay management has determined that threatening to leave negative feedback for any negative feedback received is "Okay and not extortion". So that's exactly what happens. Unhappy buyers mostly don't leave feedback nowadays.LoyalTubist wrote:This seller received nasty feedback for selling this:

But this buyer wasn't such a nice person!

Well.... the auction is over. $2,000.01. I guess it was legit after all. I DO get a little tired of folks pointing out these so-called scams. I think most of the sensible folks on this forum have enough smarts to know good from bad. As far as the others who might not have much sense go... well, they'll just have to learn the hard way.

The one thing I know for sure is that when TubeNet folks sniff out a scam they are almost always right.TubaTinker wrote:Well.... the auction is over. $2,000.01. I guess it was legit after all. Keep up the good work guys. Its one thing to get burned on a $50 trumpet. Its another thing to lose your shirt on a $2000 tuba.

I agree, been here most of my life too. I also doubt anyone in the Inland Empire would need a nice F tuba. The area is full of community bands but nothing too serious...YORK-aholic wrote:having lived in Southern California all my life, there aren't many (if any) people that would own a nice F tuba living in San Bernardino. Others that live in the Inland Empire can back me up.
I think you did the right thing. We can't be too careful these days and there are scams around every corner. Hopefully it wasn't stolen...

San Bernardino really changed after I moved back to Riverside after living for a few years in Southeast Asia. I remember one Friday night I decided to take the family out to some of the places I remember from growing up in nearby Colton. We felt really strange. We did not feel safe, even though cops were all around us. Going into one store, there was a police officer who was sitting in his parked squad car and I chatted with him. He said I was crazy to be on the streets of San Bernardino after 6:00 on any evening of the week (and this was summer--it wasn't dark yet.) So this is no surprise. Those Berdoo cops have their hands full with a lot of stuff.

Well, James.... what's the red hot skinny? Stolen or not? Are the pawn shop guys in jail? Did someone at the school steal the horn and hock it? ... or was the deal legit? With the original accusations, this really needs to be wrapped up.

You've got some folks with sticky fingers down there! A friend's son gave a recital a few years ago in LA and had his Geoffrey Guo palladium flute stolen within seconds of laying it down to talk to someone who wanted to congratulate him! He's always wondered if he was double-teamed by a couple of crooks.
Say, if I'm looking for a nice used tuba, woiuld I be better off going to a San Berdoo pawnshop or making the trek to TJ?

Well
What's the final word on the crooks (er... I mean store owners and college folks) out west? It's not nice to accuse businesses of being theives without providing the 'rest of the story'. (Even if they are).
