I was playing a pit job, many moons ago, and the reed players were constantly carving, cutting, and adjusting their reeds. It kind of annoyed me so the next time I brought a junk 12C and my cordless Dremel tool. I just waited until the ritual began and then began grinding away at the old mouthpiece. When they looked at me strangely, I said "Oh, I am just adjusting the cup and backbore a little." They did all of their reed work at home from then on.
