Same here. There are two Despots closer, but it's faster not to go there...

I believe Lowe's has also gotten negative publicity, but of a different kind than Walmart. Walmart's bad publicity has to do with the poor treatment of their employees, and Lowe's has to do with the poor treatment of their customers. The former won't affect business much, except for people who refuse to shop there, but the latter will.

I'm not terribly fond of either Lowe's or the Home Despot (and here I thought I came up with that term, but someone else is using it...) The Despot has cheaper prices than the private stores because they buy merchandise without making the manufacturer inspect it; so the customer is the "end inspector." I can't tell you how many times I've had to take back a defective something-or-other that I got at Home Depot. I stayed away from Lowe's for a long time because the local store had several complaints to the BBB for non-response to customer problems.

Personally I'd rather spend a little more $$ and get a little better service. And I don't buy anything at Walmart; I find better clothing at the thrift stores.

I love self-checkout lanes, I wish more stores had them. I don't see it as the stores being greedy (which it may well be a direct result of) but I see it as technology helping to get me in and back out as quick as possible. I can't wait till it's like that late 90's IBM commercial where you just put the food/products in your carts and just walk out, and it bills your credit card.

As for Wal-Mart, it strikes me as the sort of evil empire Larry Luchino of the Red Sox seems to always be talking about. They move in, and care about the community, at least until they put everything around it out of business. Wal-Mart's are great in some areas, but it bugs me that the chain activley goes out and puts these things in small towns that kills the local commercial economy. But thats just free enterprise, and as a college student, I do go to Wal-Mart almost on a monthly basis.

Agree that Lowe's has poor customer service. I ordered over $1000 woth of custom doors and when they arrived they would not schedule shipment for over 15 days. I got a U-haul trailer and did the job myself.

This month things were even worse. A $200 custom door came in, but when I went to pick it up I was told they could not find it on the loading dock. I called a department manager next day who promised to set the door aside for me. Then when I returned Saturday morning, I was told the loading dock was too full to locate my door. The department manager refused to speak to me, and no one called after I left my business card.

Several days later my call to Lowes' store manager got an apology and a free delivery the next day. Enough is enough for me with Lowes. They do not schedule or train enough workers to get the job done.

I think the Lowes vs. Home Depot stuff is all about where you live, who manages/works in the stores. Where I used to live just south of Atlanta, the Home Depots always seems to have better folks working. But where I live now, our local Lowes beats the Home Depot hands down.

No suprise there: Home Depot's headquarters is in Atlanta, GA.
I bet the WalMarts in Arkansas and the Lowes stores in North Carolina are outstanding .

Pretty sad huh, apparently someone tested a Bass Clarinet and it was like plastic .........and very breakable......and sounded like crap.

Does it come with the heavy duty, industrial grade water key drain, or is the drain extra?

A drain like that would be a marvelous solution for my practice room. No more puddles of water on the floor!
