Soaps

Post by XtremeEuph »

Any good recommendations on soaps to clean slides/pistons (cleaning 'brownness' off)? I heard Lemon Joy and Palmalive dish soap (liquid). It seems hard to determine if they are grease cutters or not, seeing they all like to say they are good for grease.

I thought Grease removers were a bad thing.

I thought grease removers were bad, or are they good for 'removing oils fromt he pistons/slides' because I heard it removed the plating or something. Wut would be best for the horn itself, could it be used on the pistons/slides as well?

PS this was supposed to be an edit because I realized what I was asking, but Tubenet was being a pain in the *** to me

You want to cut the grease and oil from the inside of your hourn. I also like using Dawn dish washing soap. NOT any automatic dishwasher soap though as those are too harsh. Maybe that's what you heard.

It's not the soap that affects plating, it's the abrasiveness of the wrong pad/cloth, and/or using too much pressure or repetitive motion, and/or too much polishing that takes the plating off.

Not unless you do your dishes with acid!
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

And even then, gold is rather resistant to a lot of acids. It's just soft. Proceed lightly.

You sound a bit too worried about your new 842. Why don't you trade horns with me.
I have a nice Yamaha 641 that's about 15 years old with NO gold trim to worry about. I'll trade your even up!

Just kidding of course. I don't know what I'd do with all that nice gold trim.

Good luck with the bath. I'm sure it will go fine.
