Marzan Tubas
Does anyone have any production information on Marzan tubas. I have one of the B & M BBb four piston models with a 19" bell and .752 bore and I'm curious about the production numbers. I've also been told that Willson made some of the Marzan tubas with a smaller bore. Additional info please.

From what I could gather, B&M made all of the rotor horns and large piston ones. Willson made the small piston ones. I don't know much else. Does your horn have a serial number? Mine only has one number on it: 1
If you want, I can send you the pdf of Fred Marzan's oral history. Maybe I missed something in it that you may see.

I read the history earlier this evening and didn't notice anything other than just the fact that tubas were manufactured with his name on them. My serial number is 74265... stamped on the 2nd valve casing. It's a great-playing horn. I wish I had some production info on these things.Tubaryan12 wrote:I can send you the pdf of Fred Marzan's oral history. Maybe I missed something in it that you may see.

I haven't read it in a while, but ITEA has an oral history interview with Fred Marzan and Carole Nowicke which talks about the development of the Marzan horns

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

A new horn, Dan?
Hey Dan,
you finally got a Marzan, eh? I know that you had been somewhat interested before. How about some pics?
I have one of the little ones made by Willson and it's a fun little horn.
