Financing A Tuba
Does anyone have any ideas concerning financing a tuba. I tried to get a bank loan for my CC but I couldn't get a loan for a tuba. Maybe I went about it the wrong way. I am looking to purchase an F tuba but I need to finance it rather than coming up with a big chunk all at once. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well you have no credit, but your parents do...maybe they can get a loan for you (with possibly a better interest rate than school loans because they are going up big time!)...you will be paying back the loan just like if it where your own just in your parents name...hopefully they trust you and believe that getting a tuba is in your best interest and can help you out. I got a bank loan for my f tuba about a year ago, but that was my senior year of college and I had established a good amount of credit by then. If you can't afford to pay for the tuba while in college subsidized student loans are the way to go. Good luck!

Student loan is probably the most economical way to go about it. You may also want to try for a Personal Loan from a bank, as the interest rates are not too awfully bad and they are easier to get than other types of loans generally, especially for the amount you are talking. You dont need a mortgage.

How did you get a bank loan? I have established credit so that is not a problem. I didn't think a bank would loan money for an instrument purchase.

Ok, my apoligies for assuming you didn't have any credit! I took out a personal loan through a credit union. If you haven't tried a credit union or some "smaller type" bank I would do so....something like Bank of America probably won't give you that type of loan. Also, I had a job at the time (not sure if you do or you just make money off school), but maybe get one (anything) to show you make a certain amount of money....if your credit score is amazing yet you don't make any money, they will not give you the loan. You have to show/prove you can finance the horn. Also, some bank associates might not understand the puraching of an instrument...I would present a valid arguement as to WHY this is a good investment. I took out a small car loan at relatively the same time as I did the loan for the f tuba...and my tuba is still worth every penny I got it for...the car is a different story. If you have any more questions let me know.
