King upright bell height

I would like to ask anyone who has had a King 1240 or 1241 tuba if they know how tall is the upright bell itself. I would like to get myself for my horn and was curious as to the height.

Sorry... I don't mean to offend any flag burners out there... For God sakes, the bell is sitting on a flag! Always so quick to judge... Problem? Lets hear about it... And yes, thanks for showing restraint!

14" tall x 21.5"diameter

Maybe everything is upside down? Maybe he has a carpeted ceiling with an American flag miraculously attached to the ceiling too. So for the picture, he cast a levitation spell on the bell and made it float to the ceiling. Then (since wizards aren't always the smartest people) he took the picture with camera upside down by accident.

You never now...

We're not flag burners. Quite the opposite. The problem is that two points of flag etiquette were trashed in the picture at the same time:
1) A flag is never to be allowed to touch anything beneath it, whether the floor, ground, etc. The only exception I know is a military casket, because it is symbolic of the entire country giving respect to one who served his country.
2) A flag is never supposed to have anything on top of it, as it denegrates the allegiance to the flag, and by extension to the country.

So, I will be the first to actually make a statement: please change out the picture so as not to offend the entire TubeNet, which includes patriots, veterans, currently serving, scouts and scout leaders, civil servants as police, fire, EMT, etc.

Since this appears to be the flame post of the day, here's why the bell was placed on a flag. In my opinion, I am not being disrespectful to the flag. It is tasteful, good-looking and properly displayed. I am not burning the flag, draping it around my shoulders, etc...

I don't assume that anyone is a flag burner... It was sarcasm because it's okay to burn the flag, that's all. Speaking for myself, I'm glad youâ€™re bringing flag etiquette to attention; it's something that is important. I'm not going to remove the pictures because it's my freedom of expression. If Sean would like them removed he can PM me or delete the post.

There are plenty of webpages out there that describe flag etiquette. Here's one of the rules:

It (the flag) should not be embroidered, printed or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary use.

Have you ever seen the flag on those mentioned items??? The flag police are out to get you...

Hey Tim, it's called a "tenon". It fits into the bell "collar" or "receiver" and is secured with thumb screws.

Here is Tim and I playing on the 4th of July in Ontario, CA. Note his very cool American Flag bell cover, very appropriate on the 4th.

You're right. We have a first amendment that guarantees freedom of speech. No one can make him change it. Even I would not want to, as I agree nothing malicious was intended, and I would be out of line by insisting. That's why I tried to be low key, objective, simply state the applicable flag etiquette involved, and politely asked him to change it as it may offend a lot of other people, as is my first amendment right as well.

To quote Yakov Smirnoff, who has his theatre about 35 miles from where I live: "What a country!"
