Ole Schmidt, Batman!

Post by circusboy »

I just got a new recording of Ole Schmidt's "Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra, op 42" (1975). Worth a listen.

It's a 16-minute piece perfomed by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra with Jens Bjørn-Larsen on tuba. The composer conducts.

Also on the CD are Schmidt's "Suite for Flute, String Orchestra, Harp and Percussion, op. 21" (1960); "Concerto for Flute and String Orchestra" (1985); and "Concerto for Horn and Chamber Orchestra, op. 31" (1966).

It's a Super Audio CD on the DACAPO label. This is a Danish label, distributed by the German MVD Music and Video.

It's available here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E8 ... F8&s=music
