I heard he was the Army's equivalent of a "Thank You Recruit":Tom Holtz wrote:Sorry, Sean. You must have had the brim of that hat jammed into your forehead on more than one occasion...
Drill Instructor: "Oh, so Recruit Chisham wants to move slow, huh?! Everybody say, 'Thank you Recruit Chisham!"
Platoon of recruits: "Thank you, Recruit Chisham!"
Drill Instructor: "Now PUSH!"
(well, I didn't hear that about Sean.. I'm just making that up)

In Army basic training, EVERYONE is "Private". Recruit is a Navy/Marine thang.Tom Holtz wrote:THANK YOU, RECRUIT CHISHAM!
Even thoigh I entered basic as a Specialist rank, I was still "Private"
My (least) favorite quote from basic was "Private, you WILL run up and down that hill until I get tired." (I never got caught sleeping again and felt like I was going to have a heat stroke that day.)

What's funny is, the person shouting such a command DOES get tired. Drill Sergeants/Instructors are inherently impatient, so after only a little while, they're sick of watching the private/recruit doing something so meaningless.. lolWoodSheddin wrote:My (least) favorite quote from basic was "Private, you WILL run up and down that hill until I get tired."
