I played it last week when I was there - great dark sound. I was bothered by how the entire horn vibrated on any note I played - extra thin brass or what? I was also surprised at how little it seemed to weigh. Thin metal = light weight, duh! Nice horn (also without a fifth valve) for anyone wanting a large CC at a reasonable price!

I don't know what it means, but I had a dream last night that I sold my 52J and bought this Cerveny CC. Maybe, I should go back to Dillon and play it again! And, no. I don't usually dream about tubas!!

I keep having a dream that my tuba gets trashed. Usually in the dream I need to play it in a few minutes for a big concert.

If any of you have ever played an original York, you'll notice how light the horns were. Particulary for their size. I think that's partially what makes them so easy to play and sound so resonant. Bill, I hope that your dreams come true!

I tried a Cerveny Kaiser BBb recently and that was the most alive tuba I have ever played with the vibrations. I think they must all be like that. However, it sounded really great!

I agree with this. I used to play in a group next to a guy that owned an old 5/4 cc cerveny horn with 4 rotary valves and the beast could absolutely sing and responded with such a lively ease. I at the time was playing a MW25 and the dang thing was about as dead as they come, sounded good but it definetly didn't have the aliveness as the big cervenys do.
