Tuba Titans

I just received a phone call from a college buddy in western NY telling me he's sending a HS student to participate in the Tuba Titans. It's a marching band of 300 HS sousaphone players and drums who will march in the NYC Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Being in the NYC area, I'm surprised I haven't heard about this event. I googled it to make sure it was legit and it is. Does anybody know anything more about this? Thanks!
