Eccles Sonate

Where can I find the sheet music for the Henry Eccles/Fernand Lelong Sonate? I am looking for the same one on Jeffery Funderburk's Romantic Connections CD.

I looked online at Penders and Hickey's but didn't find it.

Not sure if it's the same piece, but I have an Eccles sonata arranged for alto saxophone and piano that I've played a couple of times. Someone once told me that Funderburke had played it. I don't have the music at my fingertips right now, but it should be easy to find. It is one of the all time standard intermediate saxophone pieces (it's probably more of an "advanced" tuba solo however depending on the octave you play it in). I picked it up after a friend of mine played it (on saxophone) in high school. You can pretend Eb is bass clef, or if you have an Eb tuba you are set.

Again, I'm not sure of the transcription that you're using, but if it's the G-minor sonata, it's readily available for bass or 'cello.

Digging up an old thread here...

What is the deal with the Henry Eccles Tuba Sonata? Is it a piece written for tuba, or is it a transcription from a different instrument? The entries in this thread are talking about Alto Sax, Cello, and Bass. Are these all different pieces? Is the tuba sonata its own piece?

On one website I have come across this description: "Sonata for Bass Trombone (Tuba) and Piano." Is THIS the tuba sonata?

Can anybody clarify this for me? I'm not sure why this isn't obvious to me.

Henry Eccles (1670 (or 1671?) - 1742) was an English composer.

That should clear up whether it was originally written for tuba or alto sax...
