Apparently wwbw has filed for bankruptcy, and Guitar Center is set to buy them out...

That's a major drag. I have always like BW - good service, good selection, etc. It was nice to be able to go into a store that had several brands to try. Too bad, but maybe Guitar Center will keep the operation going. Why else would they have bought ALL the inventory?

I will gladly post my thoughts to this in a PM to anyone who is interested. I'll just say this: don't expect anything good to come out of this for the music industry.

Guitar Center (and the ones they bought up - Music and Arts Centers) bought up most of the small, local music shops around here. The good thing is they have IMMEMNSE bulk buying power. We can get brands and deals we never could have hoped for, before the merge. They have a rental program where they put a horn in the hands of kids, for three months, for $25. That's not $25 a month- that's $25 total!
Of course, centralized corporate management makes things more... interesting some times. Perhaps this is the way the music industry can better compete with the big box discounts stores with look-a-like music instruments.
We will have to wait and see what shakes out.

If it helps keep them in business, it cannot all be bad!
I am sure many of us, including myself, have used WWandBW for purchases in the past and hope to in the future as well!
