Miraphone F: $1850

Post by circusboy »

I hate to do this, but we're just not a two-tuba family.

This is a 3/4-sized Miraphone F. It has no serial number nor model number, because it was made before Miraphone started to do that. Research tells me that it was made circa 1958-1960. It is similar to the model 180, which came out later, but I believe the brass is heavier/thicker on this model.

It is in raw brass with five valves, the fifth valve (activated by right thumb) was added after manufacture.

Yes, it's got a few dents. I've tried to show the worst of everything in the pics. I don't believe any of them affect the sound.

The valves are very smooth and clean-operating.

I LOVE the sound of this horn. Classic German F--very rich, lots of core and lots of overtones. Even the low end sounds good to me, and, of course, the high end sings. All the notes are there--even the low C--but it will take most tubists some getting used to and some work to find them all. (I'm not a slide-puller; I could do everything with the lips.)

$1850 plus shipping. Includes original Miraphone gig bag. E-mail or PM me with any questions.
