That's why I asked the question I did. I also have manifestations of essential tremor at times, and yes, it's usually in association with stress and exhaustion. But not always. I've always had issues with it. This topic has shown me the links between tremor and dystonia, but it has also shown me the differences.

Often, after playing tuba, I'm unable even to write my name because my hand is shaking so much. The tremor in my hand is far more common than in my face. The stress of public performance seems to do it. I think most of us have had a turn of unintended vibrato during a moment of panic on stage.

But apparently it's not dystonia. There is a physiological link, because it's worse when my blood sugar is too low. And there is a chemical link, because it is exacerbated by adrenalin (which itself may be responding to the low blood sugar). Both of those can be controlled or mitigated, while dystonia, by definition, cannot. It might get to that point someday. That's why I pay attention to what people say about it.

wow I just found out about this now and read about it..........sounds very close to what happens to me.............. :roll:
