TubaMeister Christmas in San Antonio

Post by TubaRay »

Well, the 2006 TubaMeister Christmas is over, and I believe, a great success. It seems that the number eight come up a couple of times. First, we had 88 participants. Secondly, the high today in San Antonio was 80 degrees(with the sun shining).

We had participants ranging in age, from 11 to 84 years. We had two double bell euphoniums and a helicon. There was a pretty good balance of parts. Believe it or not, I didn't hear any blatting on the concert. There was a good crowd in the Arneson River Theater. Several barges(actually, boats) came by with tourists aboard.

Prior to the event, we had good media coverage. Not much coverage of the actual event, though. The local paper ran an article in the Weekender with two pictures and good information about us.

TubeNet members knuxie, Lee Hipp, and of course TubaRay were in attendance. Any of you guys and gals who have the opportunity, come on down to S.A. and join us next year. You won't be disappointed.

All in all, a good time was had(probably) by all.
