Brass Quartet Music

I was looking for quartets (not tuba-euph, but "brass") to download 'cause I prolly don't have time to have anything shipped by Saturday.

I saw some download sites, but none of them graded the pieces; I also saw, on one site, quite a few arrangements for 2 Tpt, tbone, and tuba, as well as the usual 2 Tpt, horn, and tbone. Since I switch-hit between horn, euph, and tuba, well, I could do either, but I don't want to dump a bunch of bucks on music that is either boringly grade school or impossibly pro. Especially, the tpts in question are not overly fond of extended multiple leger lines. Fun music, for the most part, rather than "hyper-modern."

Any suggestions for a good amateur-level brass quartet? Favorites? Say about the level of the CB intermediate/advanced books. Or maybe up to the Ewald quintet level (but I'm looking for quartets, not quintets.)

I have two sites of interest for you and everybody:
1. Jay Lichtmann's site at Hartford University. It has a bunch of free brass quartets for two trumpets, trombone and bass trombone. There is a substitute horn part for the first trombone, and a lot of the bass trombone parts are playable on tuba. The arrangements are excellent and they are free! Check out the Telemann pieces with the French titles.
2. The Werner Icking Music Archive. Among others, Michael Rondeau has arranged hundreds of pieces for brass quartet. Look for pieces "by composer" on the site and you will find dozens of good pieces by baroque composers such as Purcell, Johann Pezel. My quartet just played a quartet by Sammartini from this web site. Also free!

I have to admit that I have no idea how to post a URL. If you look for " Jay Lichtmann free brass music" and "Werner Icking music archive" they will be in the first hits on the search list. Good luck, I can recommend these sites for everybody. John

You should also take a look at www.sibeliusmusic.com

There will be a lot of crap to look through, but it's quite cheap and sometimes free. The best thing is that you can see it and listen to it (midi file) before choosing whether or not to purchase it (or print it for free).
