I suspect the Cowboys will need to have an ownership change before they improve significantly. Hiring thugs, criminals, jerks and ego maniacs apparently comes naturally to Jerry Jones. (Firing decent men like Tom Landry and annoucing it to the press before telling Mr. Landry also comes naturally to Jones.)TubaRay wrote:I wonder if we'll ever see the Cowboys regain the form that gave them at least some reason to be called Amerca's team.

I watched that game and it was fun to watch- especially since I like the Seahawks.TubaRay wrote:How 'bout them Cowboys!!! Having lived in Texas most of my life, I have traditional been a Dallas Cowboys fan(far from a rabid sports fan am I).
The Seahawks were very, very lucky. Although what's that they say about karma? The cowboys seem to have used up their entire supply of good karma.
I agree on Tom Landry. It did seem like he had lots Edit: lost what it takes to have a championship team and he should have been eased out. If he would go along with the easing out, do it with a positive celebration attitude. If he wouldn't go along with it, well, fire him.

Re: NFL Playoffs
I grew up in Dallas in the 60's & 70's and was a rabid Cowboys fan. But since Jones has been here, I always hope at the beginning of the season, that the Cowboys have an 0-16 record. Maybe if Parcells and T.O. (Terminally Obnoxious) stay a while longer.....Mark wrote: I suspect the Cowboys will need to have an ownership change before they improve significantly. If you're an Eagles fan, you love to dislike the Cowboys... having T.O. and a coach whose nickname is "The big tuna" just makes that easier... espescially after they lose to the 2/13 Lions...

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

At this point, my opinions:tubatooter1940 wrote:Ryan, you nailed it on the 6th, all of them.RyanSchultz wrote:Indy over Kansas City
Seattle beats Dallas (barely)
NE beats NJ Jets
Eagles eat Giants
What are your soothsayer picks for next week?
Chicago will be terrible on offense but will beat Seattle
Saints over Eagles
Ravens will destroy Indy (and Peyton)
New England might, and probably will, upset San Diego

You guys don't realize that rooting for a loser since 1967 and finding them second seed in the NFC can be heady stuff.TubaRay wrote:Gotta agree with that, Doc.Doc wrote:

And that goes all the way back to 1962 when they were the Houston Colt 45s. Anyway. Don't take us too seriously on the yawning thing.Doc wrote:We have the Astros, remember?tubatooter1940 wrote:You guys don't realize that rooting for a loser since 1967 and finding them second seed in the NFC can be heady stuff.TubaRay wrote: Gotta agree with that, Doc.

Predictions for this week:
-New England over San Diego in OT- not sure about this pick, but it will be a close game.
-Ravens over Colts- even after seeing the Colts' D last week, I think the Ravens will put across enough points, and if Peyton had 3 INTs against the Chiefs, imagine how he'll do against a good defense...
-Eagles over Saints- so I'm biased, but we lost to them on a game-winning FG as time expired earlier in the season, and frankly, I don't like the New Orleans D.
-Seahawks over Bears- the Seahawks won a game they weren't supposed to last week, and I think it could happen again.
San Diego will beat New England, as SD's defense is better than NE's offense, and I don't think LT can be stopped completely..
Baltimore will beat Indy, because Baltimore is a more complete team than the Colts are.
Saints over Eagles. I want the Eagles to keep winning, but there's no way that the Eagles can stop Bush, McAllister and Brees. They'll stop 1 of the 3, but the other two will have big days.
Bears over Seahawks, simply because Seattle's offense can't score on Paris Hilton right now...

No, no, no....Bears over Seahawks, simply because Seattle's offense can't score on Paris Hilton right now...
It's our defense that prevents us from scoring on Paris Hilton.... Survival of the fittest and all....
I'm for the Hawks but I do think Da Bearz will be a little much for them. But ya never know...[/quote]

my pics for super bowl:
NFC-Saints, high powered offence underated defence.
AFC-Colts, Too much offence for the Raivens
The colts will beat the Patriots after the pats make the Chargers look like they have a rookie quarterback.
Saints will play Seattle in the AFC, beating them simple because of the recieving core of the Saints and the depleated secondary of the Seahawks.
I am biased towards the colts, being a colts fan, however, i do believe that the return of bob sanders at ss had a massive impact last week on LJ, and the same will happen this week. The recievers of the ravens are not going to be good enough to attack the secondary, and i dont believe the colts D will let Jamal Lewis run all over them.
Enjoy

After a fun gig Friday at The Tropical Isle-upstairs, (the band downstairs told us it sounded like the floor was coming down. I left New Orleans at noon and picked up a pound of really spicy shrimp (prawns in the U.K.) and some French bread (with which to wipe my bowl) and ate that mess with a cold one at home while watching the Saints win.
That's big fun to an old fool like me.
