Steinway/Conn-Selmer strike affecting King tuba production?

Post by davidwburns »

Does anyone here know if the strike is affecting the production of the King tubas? The internet is very silent on this strike...is there still a strike still going on?

I thought the strike was at the Bach factory in Elkhart. Aren't the tubas made at the Eastlake, Ohio factory?

That is correct, the strike, as I understand it, is just with Bach.
I saw ghost riders in the sky, and they each played a York EEb tuba.

That's what I was hoping was the case. Thank you.

I had to wait several months for a new 2341 leadpipe last fall and the dealer said they were striking in Ohio. I did get a new lead pipe in November that I had requested in August. It shipped from the Eastlake facility if that is any indication. I was patient since it was a free warranty replacement.

For the record, I called Conn-Selmer and they assured me that the Bach strike in Elkhart is in no way affecting the Eastlake, Ohio plant. I still don't know why they aren't stocking this instrument, but I'm guessing that they are trying to fill a backlog of orders due to its growing popularity.

I raise my glass to the King, and happily await his arrival!

Shucks I had one in stock up until last Friday.
That said, we've been waiting a bit for about 3 other horns that we have on order.

I know that there's one in stock at Mynett Music, a local music store here in Fort Wayne. There's nothing in it for me. Strange as it sounds I just do their string repair. If someone's looking for one their number is 260 482 5533.
