Band Camp

International Music Camp

Google it...........EXTREMELY friendly oriented music camp. there are many many options of what section you would like to attend and what dates, for band i believe it runs from (its 1 week at a time btw) week 3 (mid june?) to late august. Trust me, this was my first year and i only have heard of like 1 out of.....50+ people that havent returned the next year. Learn lots, very very friendly, New Dorms, kinda icky food but meh..........Great bands , songs and guest conductors. My Honor band and International Youth Band conductor was Mark Camphouse. Anyway, id advise looking it up. Its in the beautiful Peace Gardens located in North Dakota..........on the border of Canada/US...might be a long drive for you but I would definitely consider it. It is obviously worth it if theres people coming from many many other COUNTRIES year after year to attend. Not trying to buy you or anything (like i made it seem), just dont want you to miss out......

fun. Im not sure what decently priced is for you.........its a couple hundred a week actually which probably sounds like a lot. Those are all expenses except snacks.
(BTW what age are you, it is mostly Highschool oriented (and Middle school for drama/art), but there are adult (20+) Brass bands, quintets...even Handbells! haha)

Check out Dixie Band Camp. "Oldest Camp in the South and 2nd Oldest in the Country". Great camp, plus I'll probably end up working it. I've attended it from 8-12th grade. Can't recomend a camp that's better, 'cause there's none.

Take a look at Stephen Collins Foster Music Camps aka Foster Camp. Foster Camp is the second oldest music camp in the United States (started in 1936). Camp is held on the campus on Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY during the 2nd thru 4th week of June. The first week of camp is middle school strings and band camp. The last two weeks consist of high school band, strings, piano, and vocal camp. At camp you have the opportunity to take private lessons with university faculty, perform in a variety of ensembles such as band, orchestra, tuba ensemble, brass quintets, etc., and camp also provides daily recreational and social activities. Yeah, if you check out dixiebandcamp.com and look at the history section...you'll see the following quote "Dixie Band Camp, the oldest camp in the South and the second oldest in the nation..."

If you take the time to carefully read the histories of the two camps you will discover that Dixie Band Camp was founded in 1937 and Foster Camp was founded in 1936. Foster Camp is also not a "Band" Camp but a Music Camp that was origially modeled after Interlochen Music Camp. BTW, Foster Camp was founded one year after Interlochen which is the oldest music camp in the United States and will enter its 73rd year this summer. Foster Camp will turn 72 years old this summer.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Northeast Tuba Euphonium Workshop. Check out the website at http://www.netew.com/ . Lots of quotes from previous participants. I'd say this one is definitely worth checking out.

STILL?? They haven't improved the food YET? I attended literally 30 years ago and the food was pretty icky then...

But the music was great. What a wonderful experience! The faculty was top notch. I was fortunate to study with Harold Brasch. What a turning point in my euph life.
