The Army Band conference webcast will start any second now. You can go to this page for all of the live events.

The feed comes through fine even in California. Kind of nice listening to a recital with the window open and a warm breeze blowing across the room. I could get used to this.

Yeah, Bratten. This is pretty cool.

Tropman is a sick freak of nature.

You should webcast the exhibit room. Take a microphone around the place for an hour or two. Edit down the take, sell a "TUSABTEC Best Elephant Calls Of 2007" CD next year, make some coin for the reception.

I get the picture but still thanks to all. I was only able to listen to about 15 minutes around mid-day but it was great! Great music is really wonderful to hear and to think that it was a live performance is simply amazing!!!

I have often wondered if there was some way to post the printed programs for the past conference performances that are in the Army Band's archives. I love listening to them, but I often find myself wondering what the piece is, that I am listening to!

I would like to say thanks to all the organizers and contributors of this year's Tuba/Euphonium conference. I couldn't attend, but listened to quite a lot of it on the web-cast. Great job everyone! I really enjoyed the music and learned quite a bit.

If I had to pick my two favorite programs, it would be the master class for euphoniumists paneled by current principal euphoniumists of five of the premier military bands:

Roger Behrend - Navy Band (28 yrs)
Phil Franke - Marine Band (26 yrs)
James Jackson - USCG Band
William Jones - USAF Band
Don Palmire - US Army Band (& co-host)

The panel gave a lot of good information for prospective military musicians on what to expect as a musician in the military. Also, good suggestions on preparing their auditions. It was excellent!

Then there was the master class with Daniel Parantoni (affectionately known as Dr. P). There was some excellent playing to be heard. Good suggestions on improving sound, tonguing, etc. It was also excellent.

I always learn something from listening to master classes. I hope they will archive some of these programs so we can listen to them again.
