WTB/Borrow/Rent: Flight Case

Post by MikeMilnarik »

Hello All!

I need a flight case for a Rudolf Meinl 5/4 CC tuba. The height is approx. 40 and 3/4" and the bell diameter is about 19 and 3/4" to 20"

Anyone got one that they would be willing to sell, lend, or rent?

Please contact me directly by email...

mike@tubastudio.com

Thanks!

Hi,
I've got the perfect case.
Built by Zarges, it's made to fit a Rudy 5/4 and a second horn the opposite way; mine was a Yamaha Eb. There are fitted foam points to stabilize the Rudy and my Eb fits with its Reunion Blues gig bag. An extra sheet of high density foam goes between the two horns.
The case is on wheels and fits though standard doors.
There's a top separator with room between it and the hinged cover to fit music and tails in a garment bag.
It's in great shape. I first used it for 10 weeks in Australia. It was a blessing as our equipment was transported around by the Australian Army. I also used it in Europe and China.
It's also perfect for concert hall backstage.

The big thing is that I was never worried about my horns. The stress was gone.

I will load photos on Webshots.
$400 will do it.

Cheers,

Sylvain

Now THAT is an impressive case! How in the heck would you get any commercial airline to accept that though? I have a hard enough time getting my rudy 5/4 in a ata case onto a plane.

How much does the case weigh? How in the heck, short of a 2 1/2 ton truck would you transport this thing TO the airport?

I've always pined for a case that would hold both tubas.. it'd sure making pushing it PLUS luggage easier!

It does fit in my 1982 Honda civic wagon. The hatch doesn't close but I don't have to borrow a 1/2 ton truck.

I tell you, it made my travels worry free. Knowing that I had my whole outfit in one box made my other piece of luggage much lighter.

As for the aiport, I had to take the case to the oversize luggage area.

The case is 28" wide, 55" long, 32" high and is probaby 50 lbs.
