C. Beauregard's Tuba

Post by mdc2d »

What tuba is Mr. Beauregard using on the Eastman Brass Quintet album of Renaissance music? Just curious...

If you believe the old Mirafone brochures, it was a 184 or 185. Can't remember which; I'll have to dig through the archives.

If I remember correctly, and I sometimes don't, Cherry played a 185 and a 186. I don't know which one he played on the record. I would guess it was the 185.

I studied with Cherry from '84-88 and he used a 184 (and a very good one, i might add) for quintet. I would assume that this was the horn he used on that recording.

I'm pretty sure it was the old 184.
