Hi, all. Mike Roylance (principal tuba in the Boston Symphony Orchestra) and I will play excerpts of Howard Frazin's new concerto commission, Theme and Reverberations for 2 tubas and chamber orchestra, and a bit of jazz, on this one hour show called "Radio Open Source," broadcast in AL, CA, KY, MA, OR, VT, and TX and webcast by WGBH in Boston. Mostly it airs at 7:00 PM, but for station particulars please visit this website:
http://www.radioopensource.org/about/li ... lic-radio/
Tickets are available for the 2 premiere performances at Boston's Faneuil Hall on Friday, 3/16, at 8 PM, and on Sunday, 3/18, at 3 PM, with the Boston Classical Orchestra, conducted by Steven Lipsitt.
The work will also be available in a version for string quartet + bass viol + 2 tubas. It's 19 minutes long and gorgeous. That premiere will take place in May.

pictures of my old Holton
Thanks for the comments and requests for a good image of my old Holton Del Negro. Actually, I bought the first one I owned from Walter Sear in 1963 and donated it to the Yale University rare musical instrument collection 10 years of so ago. That's the horn on which I made all the early Black Eagle recordings, as well as the duo album on Stomp Off Records with Jimmy Mazzy, "Shake It Down." You can see an artist's portrait of that horn on the record cover, as well as a fairly good photo of the successor instrument, a BBb version that I had Bob Osmun cut down to CC with Bob Rusk's guidance in the early 80's here: http://www.elinewberger.com/music_listen.html
I subsequently donated the uncut Holton to the Harvard Band 5 years or so ago. You can see that instrument in an early photo of the Black Eagles (1972 or so) in front of the Sticky Wicket sign here: http://www.elinewberger.com/music_tuba.html
If this isn't confusing enough, write to me off-list, and I'll try to find a photo. I have to say, however, that I'm thrilled with my Harvey Phillips CC Holton. It's in tune, and it doesn't leak!
All best,
Eli
