The only commercial recording I know of is Charles Vernon's. It sounds pretty good on bass trombone too :)

"British Tuba Concertos" by James Gourlay is what I would recommend.

No John Williams Concerto there...only John Golland.

Then again, maybe I just got suckered into a joke post?

Hee hee. I'd like that recording, too!

I have a bootleg recording with orchestra but sadly have no idea who's playing...
Soloist seems to be playing a small piston basstuba (but you never know). They struggle down to the first couple low F's a little. Rest is great; particularly the high stuff.

If anyone would PM me as to who this might be I'd be grateful. I'll have a listen too and work out some more 'features' of the performance which may help...
Thanks.

Also try the Chester Schmitz recording. Amazing!

Where can I find the Pokorny recording? I've been trying to find it, but I can't find anybody with the bootleg. Maybe if somebody out there would feel generous, they could send me a copy.

I posted a while ago about getting some of the bootleg recordings and still have not figured out how. I downloaded a bootleg off of a peer to peer but have no clue who it is. I did buy Charlie Vernon's CD and it does sound great on Bass Bone, but I'd still like to get my hands on some of the bootlegs and eventually I will buy Velvet Brown's CD as well. PM me please if you can help.

While quickly skimming the posts I misread this one for a brief second and had a flash of brilliance... Jabba the Huttl... Any takers? I'm lookin at you, Cip... My composing chops couldn't do it justice, but you should have plenty of time to work on it once you take over for me down here... Once we get that Finale issue taken care of, that is... Guess you could go old school and go ink and paper... I want an original of the first draft... I will use it as my opener when I do my recital tour of Tikrit...
