Laskey 30B

I am also curious about the 30B. Has NO ONE on this board tried one??? Can someone get Scott Laskey to provide testimonials?

What is this 30B? How does it compare in size to the 30G or 30H?

The 30B and 28B are "in between" a funnel and a bowl shape. That's basically how Scott Laskey explained it to me. I loved it on my HB2P, but I haven't really taken the time to try it THAT much on my other CC. It also worked well on the Yama(...)-yORK.

I'd be REALLY curious to hear what people think of this on Rotary CC tubas; I haven't tried it on any YET, but would venture to guess that it would work very well on HB2s, and possibly others.

Scott, please give us your explanation, time permitting...

I tried a 30B a few days ago at Dillon. I thought it felt great up close, but we all agreed that the sound didn't have the same presence as the 30G or 30H when you stepped back away from it. We were trying it on several larger piston CC tubas, as that was all that was really available there at the time.

Just one others opinion FWIW.

I got one recently -- have been using the 30G and was curious. It's very comfortable, but after going back and forth I think the 30G has a more focused and clear sound than the 30B on my Miraphone 1291. I plan to keep it and work with it before I make a decision not to use it at all.

I tried this mtpc at Midwest (the 30Be, I mean) and it was absolutely killin' on the PT-6PS that I use at work. The sound was clear and huge, with lots of core and the horn was easy to play. For reference I normally use a 30He. I tried the B on a rotary PT-6 not to different from the horn I own, and it didn't work as well as the 30He. I had "professional" ears listening and their consensus agreed with my observations.
