Yesterday, I heard a great group (BQ plus drum set, listed in the program as Fulcrum Point) play at Millenium Park in Chicago. It was the School of the Art Institute's graduation ceremony.

I think this must have been the same excerpt that Professor Martin then put on our pool audition - euphoniums too, in the written octave!Rex Martin is the regular tuba player for Fulcrum Point. He showed me one of the scores that he had to play for them a couple of years ago. It consisted of fast eighth notes in a crazy meter like 29/8 (similar to Zappa, but a different composer). Whew!
It was the hardest excerpt I've ever played in my life.
