Recording of Aldo Forte's Dance Rhapsody online

Hi all...

Sorry for the shameless self promotion, but I discovered that my old employer, the USAF Heritage of America Band, has put our recording of Aldo's first tuba concerto online for all to hear. Dance Rhapsody for Tuba and Band was premiered and recorded in 2003 featuring yours truly as the soloist.

Give it a listen. This is a great piece by a composer known to many tuba and euphonium players.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, the piece is available for purchase through Tuba-Euphonium Press. At this time it is only available as a solo with band accompaniment, but I have plans of pestering Aldo to come out with a piano reduction.

Aldo has recently composed a piece for tuba and 2 percussion. I have not heard or seen the piece, but it sounds like fun. Check out his website for more info. And no, I don't work for Aldo....just a fan of his music.

Fantastic playing! Really like the style of the playing as well as the music, great job! Just out of curiosity, what horn was it played on?

I've pestered Aldo for a piano reduction, and plan to continue doing so. The Dance Rhapsody is a nice chart, and would get a lot more playing time if there was a piano accompaniment.

Good on the USAF for getting it online. It deserves to be heard--Mr. Rummel put the smack-dab on this recording. Outstanding work.

Hi...

I was playing a Meinl-Weston 45-S F Tuba, with a Doug Elliott mouthpiece; 128 Rim with a P Cup and probably a P5E shank.

Well, Tom, perhaps if we pester Aldo enough we can get a piano reduction out of him before we both expire!!! It would be awesome for the piece to get performed a bit more...it would definitely make a great addition to a solo recital.

Yeah man! Great recording and the band sounds great. You sure are lucky to have played legit music while you were down there!

I'm going to have to write Aldo about having this piece sent over here to play!
