I just wanted to let people know that over 2000 people witnessed a tuba ensemble concert tonight (maybe a record)! For those of you who played, congratulations on a terrific performance. In addition, Demondrae Thurman absolutely wowed the crowd on Napoli with the Greensboro Concert Band. I am hoping to post some pictures when they are available. (Hopefully some of Demondrae, Dennis, and myself teaching kids how to march!...sorry guys!) A truly wonderful night.
Kudos to Dennis AsKew for organizing Tubas in the Summer and playing the snot out of Jon Sass' Meltdown. I also roped him into doing the pic solo on Stars and Stripes. Seth Fletcher was also responsible for much of the weekend's success. Tony Granados was on hand as the guest tuba artist and presented a terrific recital of high school level music with Demondrae on Saturday. He performed beautifully on Simple Gifts with the large ensemble tonight.
Lots of great things happened in Greensboro for tuba and euphonium this weekend...much more than I have time to write about now. I hope more will share their experiences. Thanks to everyone who participated!
