Schlossberg for Tuba?

Post by Norm in Bellevue »

Does Max Schlossberg's Daily Drills and Technical Studies exist in a version for tuba? I've seen the trumpet version, and I own the trombone version. As I play a CC tuba, I find it awkward to transpose down a minor 7th when reading from the trombone book. If a tuba version does not exist, why not?

Excellent question. I used the trumpet book for so long that I memorized the patterns and went through the valve combinations. I wonder if there is a copyright issue on this. One of the best technique books available. Although I am no longer able to play, I still own my first Arban Book, Schlossberg, and Rochut Book 1 with the gray cover. I feel it would be wrong to part with them!!!!

Would those be the ones with the price tags that say $2.49? I have a few of those . . . and they were pretty expensive when I bought them at that price, too!
Yup!!! I remember mowing 7 lawns in 1974 to buy it then staring in wonder at how high they were until my first lesson with Kevin Ladd and he broke the code. My Arbans book was my Dad's bought in 1940 at the Carl Fischer Co. in NYC. Timeless!!!!
